Our story / YDS Studio
We’re YDS Studio, the New Zealand family business behind Your Decal Shop. We design and make wall decals, murals and custom graphics, from artwork for your home to projects for workplaces, brands and healthcare environments.
Our work has grown from just a laptop to a studio creating wall art for homes and major projects across New Zealand. The people and the curiosity behind it are still the same.

Antony’s background is in architecture and product design. In 2006, the big OE took him overseas, playing music along the way, before an internship with an interior wall decoration company in Dresden, Germany.
He learnt German and, within two years, became Head of Product Development, leading a team of more than 200.

Five years into his European adventure, a trip home introduced Antony to Jess, who was working in training and education at Unitec. A walk from Muriwai to Bethells Beach sparked something more.
When Antony’s three week holiday in NZ ended, Jess sold her car, resigned and followed him to Europe. By 2012, they were ready to bring their life together back to New Zealand.

Back in Auckland, Jess took a role with Bayleys. After another job interview, Antony sat on Mission Bay beach in his suit and realised he could create the job he wanted.
Your Decal Shop began with a laptop at the end of a bed. The first designs went onto Trade Me. By morning, the first order had arrived. When Lola was born, Jess joined the business full time.

Word of mouth, magazine features and collaborations with New Zealand artists helped the business grow. Today, YDS Studio has an online range and also creates custom work for workplaces, brands and healthcare projects.
From a single decal to a connected series of walls, windows and wayfinding elements, our team designs and makes the work here in New Zealand, with installation coordinated to suit the project.

The drawing, the print and the finish happen close together. We can look at the artwork on screen, check it at its actual size and refine the details before it leaves our hands.

Choose artwork online for an office, or work with us on a custom fit-out. At Te Rae, we collaborated with architect Alex Heperi on graphics that sit naturally within the architecture.
At Starship, our contribution included wall, floor and glass graphics, custom features and installation within the atrium project. We work with project teams to connect artwork with the space.

Our recycled woven fabric decals and murals use a fabric made from recycled plastic bottles. This applies to that material range; our vinyl, timber and other products have different compositions.
We make artwork when it is ordered, with the design and production team working together in New Zealand. Digital installation guides also help reduce printed instructions.
For a commercial project, we discuss the surface, cleaning requirements and intended use before recommending a finish. Ask us for the information relevant to the material specified for your project.
