Visibility / Privacy / Identity

Glass can do more.

Window manifestation is a visible marking applied to glass to help people recognise a glazed surface. It can also contribute to privacy, branding and wayfinding. We consider how the glass looks from both sides, how people use the space and where light and clear views should remain.

Design options

A pattern with a reason to be there.

Dots and stripes can be the right answer. They are also one starting point. We can develop a manifestation pattern specifically for the proportions, brand or story of your space, and coordinate it with wall graphics and signage.

Frosted & cut-pattern graphics

Frosted effects, bands and custom cut details can screen selected areas while keeping parts of the glass open.

Bespoke illustration & colour

Original illustrations, full-colour printed graphics and transparent colour can build a visual connection with the surrounding interior.

Brand & architectural detail

Logos, room identification and repeat patterns can be aligned across multiple panels, doors and meeting rooms.

Who we work with

For the spaces people share.

We work directly with clients and alongside architects, interior designers, builders and fit-out companies. You can bring finished artwork, brand guidelines or a brief that needs a complete design response.

Materials & project planning

Specify the finish. Check the details.

Film is selected for the glass, location, finish and expected use. We consider compatibility with the glazing and any existing coating, internal or external application, exposure, cleaning and eventual removal.

Selected glass work / Auckland

A forest, carried through the glass.

At Starship Children’s Hospital, transparent fern graphics extend across elevated glazed walkways. The glazing is part of a connected visual environment, alongside forest wall graphics and suspended elements.

This is an example of decorative glazing design within a wider project. Privacy and manifestation requirements for your own space are assessed separately.

From first enquiry to installation

One studio, all the way through.

We plan the visual design and the practical work together. Installation can be coordinated with your fit-out programme, building access and the people responsible for the site.

  1. Understand the glass

Send photos, panel dimensions, the project location and your priorities. Let us know whether the main need is visibility, privacy, branding, decoration or a combination.

  2. Develop the design & specification

We agree the scope and budget, then develop or adapt artwork for the glazing. We confirm finish, coverage, panel breaks and any project-specific manifestation requirements with your team.

  3. Approve & produce

Once the artwork, measurements and proposed materials are approved, we prepare the files and manufacture the graphics in our New Zealand studio.

  4. Coordinate & install

We confirm access, glass preparation, sequencing and timing, then coordinate professional installation and provide care guidance.

Window graphics / FAQs

A few practical questions.

What is the difference between manifestation and window frosting?

Manifestation helps make glass visible. Frosting describes a type of finish that can offer privacy or form part of a manifestation design. They can work together, but the required coverage, placement and contrast depend on the project.

Can you make custom patterns instead of standard dots or stripes?

Yes. We can design a bespoke pattern or illustration and work with existing branding. Where the graphics also serve as manifestation, the design needs to be checked against the applicable project requirements.

Can frosted graphics provide privacy without covering all the glass?

Yes. Selected bands, panels or custom patterns can screen particular sightlines while leaving other areas clear. We assess the proposed treatment from both sides and under the lighting conditions relevant to the space.

Can you work from our architect’s drawings or supplied artwork?

Yes. We can work from plans and elevations, adapt a brand system or prepare supplied artwork for production. We check file quality, dimensions and any necessary artwork adjustments before manufacture.

Do you install window graphics throughout New Zealand?

We can coordinate professional installation through our nationwide installation partners. Your location, glass access, site programme and working hours help us plan and quote the work.

What do you need to quote a window graphics project?

Photos, the number and dimensions of the glass panels, the address, intended use, preferred finish and desired timing are a useful start. An approximate budget helps us recommend an appropriate design and coverage.

Can the graphics be removed later?

Many applied graphics can be removed, but the method, time and condition of the glass or existing coatings vary. Tell us if the treatment is temporary, leased-premises work or intended to be updated so we can select and quote accordingly.

Work with YDS Studio

Let’s consider your glass.

Tell us about the space, the people using it and what the glass needs to do. Photos and a rough panel schedule are a useful starting point. We will help shape the design, finish and next step.
