The design
A humpback whale mother and calf for your space
Deep blue tones, flowing fins and intricate illustrated markings give this humpback whale family a gentle sense of movement. The wide composition works beautifully above a sofa, along a hallway or in a quiet reading or waiting space, without filling the wall with a solid background. Hand-drawn by our in-house team, developed together from sketches into detailed vector artwork, then colour-matched and made to order in our New Zealand studio.

Size and placement
Find the right size for your space
Measure clear wall space for the whale pair, then allow additional space for the small fish wherever you choose to place them. Keep the pair level above furniture, without overlapping shelves or objects. For the largest feature-wall sizes, check ceiling height as well as wall width and allow extra room for the separate fish. We recommend a professional installer for large commercial installations; contact us for an installation quote through our New Zealand-wide partners.
Dimensions are approximate. Metres are used from 1 m upward, and centimetres below 1 m. Measure your available wall space before choosing.
Sizes describe the whale pair, excluding the small fish. The fish are included separately and can be arranged to suit your wall.

Available artwork dimensions

Choose a straight-on photo of your wall, then drag the artwork into position and compare the available sizes. You can enter a known measurement and mark it on the photo to make the scale more useful.

Made here, for your wall
What arrives
Includes the humpback whale mother and calf, plus small fish supplied separately to arrange around them. Sizes describe the whale pair in the arrangement shown, excluding the fish. Spacing can change overall coverage. Supplied with application tape, removed after installation.
Made to order in New Zealand in removable matte vinyl, printed with water-based inks.
Application tape holds the detail together while you transfer the artwork to the wall. It is removed after application.
Check your surface first
Best on a smooth, sound painted wall. Let new paint cure fully before installation. Removable does not mean reusable, and removal results depend on the paint and wall condition. Unsure about your finish? Send us a close-up photo before ordering.
How application-tape installation works
- Position the decal and use the side-hinge method shown in the guide, approximately 20 cm from the top.
- Remove the backing and smooth the artwork onto the wall as directed in the supplied guide.
- Remove the application tape last, leaving the artwork on the wall.
Delivery and returns
Made to order in New Zealand. See our current delivery information for shipping options and estimates. Please check return conditions before opening or applying your decal.
Meet the inspiration
Humpback whales are known for their long flippers, spectacular breaches and complex songs. They migrate between summer feeding grounds near Antarctica and warmer winter breeding waters. The reference photograph shows humpbacks off Moorea, French Polynesia.
Meet the humpback whale
In New Zealand, humpbacks travel along the South Island’s east coast and through Cook Strait in winter, returning along the west coast in spring. Kaikōura is one of the places they pass on their northern migration.

Drawn and made in New Zealand
We sketch and draw our designs in-house, working together as a team to develop each artwork. From those first drawings, we build high-resolution vector artwork in our design software, refining the detail and matching the colours before making your decal here in New Zealand.
