Pōhutukawa with Swing and Birds wall decal in a gentle-angle room visualisation, with the artwork base just above the skirting. Crisp original artwork detail.

The design

A whole Kiwi summer scene

Red flowers spread across the canopy, birds gather around the branches, and a tyre swing hangs below. The planted base completes the scene, so the artwork has details to enjoy from the top of the tree to the ground beneath it.

Discover nine native bird species

Look among the flowers and branches for tūī, kōtare (sacred kingfishers), kererū, kākā, pīwakawaka (fantails), korimako (bellbird), kākāriki and tauhou (silvereyes). At the base, an adult pūkeko and three chicks complete the scene. There are 18 birds to discover across the whole artwork.

Size and placement

Make space for the full canopy

This is the widest tree in the collection. Measure a clear rectangle for the whole artwork, including the planted base and outer branches. At 2 m high it is approximately 2.6 m wide.

Dimensions are approximate. Metres are used from 1 m upward, and centimetres below 1 m. Measure your available wall space before choosing.

Available artwork dimensions

  • 1.56 m wide x 1.2 m high
  • 2.6 m wide x 2 m high
  • 3.9 m wide x 3 m high

What arrives

The composition includes the flowering tree, birds, tyre swing and planted base pictured. Larger sizes are supplied in sections; align them using the supplied guide.

Made to order in New Zealand in removable matte vinyl, printed with water-based inks.

Application tape holds the detail together while you transfer the artwork to the wall. It is removed after application.

Check your surface first

Best on a smooth, sound painted wall. Let new paint cure fully before installation. Removable does not mean reusable, and removal results depend on the paint and wall condition. Unsure about your finish? Send us a close-up photo before ordering.

How application-tape installation works
  1. Position the decal and use the side-hinge method shown in the guide, approximately 20 cm from the top.
  2. Remove the backing and smooth the artwork onto the wall as directed in the supplied guide.
  3. Remove the application tape last, leaving the artwork on the wall.

Pōhutukawa’s summer flowers are more than a splash of colour: their nectar feeds native birds, including kākā, kākāriki and korimako.

Where to find pōhutukawa in New Zealand

Map of New Zealand

Pōhutukawa grows naturally around the upper North Island, with striking examples on Auckland’s Rangitoto Island and along the northern Coromandel coast. Rangitoto supports the world’s largest pōhutukawa forest, while the tree’s red summer flowers are a familiar part of New Zealand’s coastal scenery.

Drawn and made in New Zealand

We sketch and draw our designs in-house, working together as a team to develop each artwork. From those first drawings, we build high-resolution vector artwork in our design software, refining the detail and matching the colours before making your decal here in New Zealand.
