Kauri tree and waxeye flock wall decal in a modern children’s emergency department waiting-area visualization.

The design

A forest scene with room to grow

A textured kauri trunk rises into a broad green canopy, with waxeyes bringing movement around the tree. Use the upright composition to give a tall wall a clear focal point, from a library family zone to an entrance or shared waiting space.

Size and placement

Plan for the canopy, not just the trunk

Measure the full width and height of the scene, including the flying birds. Leave room around the canopy and check nearby doors, lights and furniture before choosing your size. Sizes from 2 m high come in multiple pieces.

Dimensions are approximate. Metres are used from 1 m upward, and centimetres below 1 m. Measure your available wall space before choosing.

Available artwork dimensions

  • 66 cm wide x 1 m high
  • 99 cm wide x 1.5 m high
  • 1.32 m wide x 2 m high
  • 1.46 m wide x 2.2 m high
  • 1.99 m wide x 3 m high
  • 3.31 m wide x 5 m high

Made here, for your wall

What arrives

The artwork includes the kauri tree and waxeyes shown. Sizes from 2 m high are supplied in multiple pieces; align them using the supplied guide.

Made to order in New Zealand in removable matte vinyl, printed with water-based inks.

Application tape holds the detail together while you transfer the artwork to the wall. It is removed after application.

Check your surface first

Best on a smooth, sound painted wall. Let new paint cure fully before installation. Removable does not mean reusable, and removal results depend on the paint and wall condition. Unsure about your finish? Send us a close-up photo before ordering.

How application-tape installation works
  1. Position the decal and use the side-hinge method shown in the guide, approximately 20 cm from the top.
  2. Remove the backing and smooth the artwork onto the wall as directed in the supplied guide.
  3. Remove the application tape last, leaving the artwork on the wall.

Kauri can live for more than 2,000 years. Their tiny companions, tauhou or silvereyes, arrived naturally from Australia in the 1850s and are now familiar garden visitors.

Where to find kauri in New Zealand

Map of New Zealand

Kauri can be found in Northland’s Waipoua Forest and the Puketī and Ōmahuta forests near the Bay of Islands. These northern forests preserve mature kauri among a rich mix of native trees, connecting this much-loved New Zealand tree with real places in our landscape.
