The design
A kākā with character
The curved beak and warm brown plumage stand out among winding branches and green foliage. Give this native parrot a clear wall space where the bird’s shape and the branch detail can be seen together.
A closer look at the artwork
Size and placement
Frame the whole branch
This composition is close to square. Measure beyond the bird itself to include the furthest leaves and branches, and choose a size that leaves a little breathing room around the artwork.
Dimensions are approximate. Metres are used from 1 m upward, and centimetres below 1 m. Measure your available wall space before choosing.
Available artwork dimensions
- 60 cm wide x 62 cm high
- 1 m wide x 1.03 m high
- 1.2 m wide x 1.24 m high
- 1.93 m wide x 2 m high
Your room, your perspective

Choose a straight-on photo of your wall, then drag the artwork into position and compare the available sizes. You can enter a known measurement and mark it on the photo to make the scale more useful.

Made here, for your wall
What arrives
The artwork includes the kākā, winding branches and green foliage in the composition pictured.
Made to order in New Zealand in removable matte vinyl, printed with water-based inks.
Application tape holds the detail together while you transfer the artwork to the wall. It is removed after application.
Check your surface first
Best on a smooth, sound painted wall. Let new paint cure fully before installation. Removable does not mean reusable, and removal results depend on the paint and wall condition. Unsure about your finish? Send us a close-up photo before ordering.
How application-tape installation works
- Position the decal and use the side-hinge method shown in the guide, approximately 20 cm from the top.
- Remove the backing and smooth the artwork onto the wall as directed in the supplied guide.
- Remove the application tape last, leaving the artwork on the wall.
Delivery and returns

Kākā are versatile forest foragers. Their menu includes fruit, seeds, nectar, tree sap and insects, including larvae hidden inside wood.
Where to find kākā in New Zealand
Kākā inhabit native forests such as Pureora Forest Park and Whirinaki Te Pua-a-Tāne Conservation Park in the North Island. Farther south, they also live around Halfmoon Bay on Stewart Island/Rakiura. These lively forest parrots are closely associated with healthy bush and effective predator protection.

Drawn and made in New Zealand
We sketch and draw our designs in-house, working together as a team to develop each artwork. From those first drawings, we build high-resolution vector artwork in our design software, refining the detail and matching the colours before making your decal here in New Zealand.
