Diving little penguins kororā wall decal in a bright children's bedroom room view from another angle

The design

Little penguins / kororā in motion

This illustrated pair of native little penguins / kororā brings movement to a blank wall through flowing bubble trails, blue plumage and carefully drawn feather detail. A playful but considered feature for a children's reading area, library, family space or coastal-inspired room. Hand-drawn by our in-house team, developed together from sketches into detailed vector artwork, then colour-matched and made to order in our New Zealand studio.

Size and placement

Find the right size for your space

Allow clear wall space for the complete bubble trails above the penguins. The design's diving direction is part of the original artwork; keep the supplied composition intact rather than rotating it to follow a shelf or skirting line.

Dimensions are approximate. Metres are used from 1 m upward, and centimetres below 1 m. Measure your available wall space before choosing.

Available artwork dimensions

  • 60 cm wide x 68 cm high
  • 1 m wide x 1.13 m high
  • 1.2 m wide x 1.36 m high
  • 1.77 m wide x 2 m high

Made here, for your wall

What arrives

Includes two diving little penguins / kororā and the full bubble trails shown in the original artwork. Size refers to the complete composition. Larger sizes may be supplied in multiple pieces or panels, with application tape removed after installation.

Made to order in New Zealand in removable matte vinyl, printed with water-based inks.

Application tape holds the detail together while you transfer the artwork to the wall. It is removed after application.

Check your surface first

Best on a smooth, sound painted wall. Let new paint cure fully before installation. Removable does not mean reusable, and removal results depend on the paint and wall condition. Unsure about your finish? Send us a close-up photo before ordering.

How application-tape installation works
  1. Position the decal and use the side-hinge method shown in the guide, approximately 20 cm from the top.
  2. Remove the backing and smooth the artwork onto the wall as directed in the supplied guide.
  3. Remove the application tape last, leaving the artwork on the wall.

Kororā, also known as little penguins or little blue penguins, are native to New Zealand and are the world’s smallest penguins. Their paddle-like flippers help them swim through coastal waters. The reference photograph was taken at the National Aquarium of New Zealand in Napier.

Recognised places to see little penguins include Ōamaru and Taiaroa Head on the Otago coast. They also live around Wellington Harbour, usually returning ashore after dark.

Drawn and made in New Zealand

We sketch and draw our designs in-house, working together as a team to develop each artwork. From those first drawings, we build high-resolution vector artwork in our design software, refining the detail and matching the colours before making your decal here in New Zealand.
