The design
Coastal detail, woven into the artwork
Golden woven strands and layered shellfish give this kete its distinctive detail. The upright composition brings a coastal New Zealand accent to a dining space or a clear wall near the kitchen.

Size and placement
A vertical feature with detailed edges
Measure the full kete outline, not just the basket body. The 60 cm-wide option is approximately 79 cm high; the largest standard option reaches 2 m high.
Dimensions are approximate. Metres are used from 1 m upward, and centimetres below 1 m. Measure your available wall space before choosing.
Available artwork dimensions
- 60 cm wide x 79 cm high
- 1 m wide x 1.31 m high
- 1.2 m wide x 1.57 m high
- 1.52 m wide x 2 m high
Your room, your perspective

Made here, for your wall
What arrives
The artwork includes the woven kete and layered shellfish in the composition pictured.
Made to order in New Zealand in removable matte vinyl, printed with water-based inks.
Application tape holds the detail together while you transfer the artwork to the wall. It is removed after application.
Check your surface first
Best on a smooth, sound painted wall. Let new paint cure fully before installation. Removable does not mean reusable, and removal results depend on the paint and wall condition. Unsure about your finish? Send us a close-up photo before ordering.
How application-tape installation works
- Position the decal and use the side-hinge method shown in the guide, approximately 20 cm from the top.
- Remove the backing and smooth the artwork onto the wall as directed in the supplied guide.
- Remove the application tape last, leaving the artwork on the wall.
Delivery and returns
Made to order in New Zealand. See our current delivery information for shipping options and estimates. Please check return conditions before opening or applying your decal.
Meet the inspiration
Kete kai are made with their purpose in mind. Different weave structures allow water or soil to drain away as food is gathered.
Where to find New Zealand’s kaimoana heritage
Kaimoana connects people with coasts across Aotearoa, from Ōhiwa Harbour in the Bay of Plenty to the Otago Peninsula. These places reflect the importance of seafood to tangata whenua, from traditional food-gathering to the care of marine habitats and resources for future generations.

Drawn and made in New Zealand
We sketch and draw our designs in-house, working together as a team to develop each artwork. From those first drawings, we build high-resolution vector artwork in our design software, refining the detail and matching the colours before making your decal here in New Zealand.
Planning a commercial space?
For commercial and healthcare spaces, higher-tack adhesive and a protective laminate are available on request. Tell us about your wall finish and the cleaning products you use so we can confirm suitability and quote for the right finish.
These upgrades are quoted separately and are not included in the standard decal price.
