How can I reduce bird strikes on windows and ranch sliders at home?
Start with the windows birds approach, then plan a visible treatment across the outside of the glass. Compare a suitable dense marking system with options such as an exterior screen. A few decorative decals on a large ranch slider are not a complete bird-collision plan, even when the decals themselves are clearly visible.

Choose a manageable first area without ignoring the rest
Make a simple list of your panes and mark where a collision has happened. Include adjoining fixed panels, not only the door you use. Note the clear width and height of each pane and whether the exterior can be reached safely. If the glass is above ground level or access is awkward, arrange suitable professional help rather than leaning out to apply artwork.
A rental or shared property may need permission before any changes. Ask about the glass, any existing film or coating, the proposed adhesive and eventual removal. “Removable” is not a blanket promise about an unknown coated surface.
Compare a complete treatment, not a pack price
Closely spaced, clearly visible exterior markings help birds recognise the glass as a barrier or obstacle, rather than an open flight path. This depends on suitable contrast and coverage across the whole pane; isolated decorative stickers are not a guarantee against collisions.
The Canadian government’s bird-collision guidance calls for an exterior pattern over the whole pane, with no gaps larger than 5 cm horizontally or vertically. Use that as a coverage question when comparing layouts, rather than choosing a small pack and spreading it as widely as possible.
Exterior screens are another option described by the US Fish and Wildlife Service. Ask the relevant supplier about suitability for the particular opening, safe installation and maintenance. A treatment that fits a fixed window may not work the same way on a sliding assembly.

Check moving doors as well as the appearance
For ranch sliders, record which pane moves and where it overlaps another pane when open. Do not place material where it obstructs handles, seals, drainage or operation. Have the installer confirm compatibility and clearance rather than assuming that a flat-looking surface has no moving parts to consider.
Keep the design decision separate from the performance decision. You may prefer coastal motifs, birds or a quieter repeating pattern, but the visual theme does not replace adequate coverage.
Where decorative YDS window decals fit
The YDS Sea Shell Window Decal pack contains two A3 sheets of assorted coastal motifs. The current listing identifies jandals, kina, shells, pohutukawa flowers and paua shells. These are product contents, not a claim that one pack treats a whole door.
Use the pack artwork to discuss a layout for your measured panes. If the chosen motif cannot produce a suitably visible, closely spaced exterior pattern, ask about another treatment rather than forcing the design to do a job it does not demonstrate.
Keep the plan useful after installation
Save a photo of the completed layout and the product instructions. Check for lifting edges, lost elements or newly exposed gaps as part of normal window maintenance. Record any further collisions and reassess the treatment if the problem continues. Contact the supplier promptly rather than treating an attractive finish as proof that the issue is solved.
For a product-specific discussion, contact YDS Studio with pane dimensions, outside photographs and the surface details. No decorative design can be promised to prevent every strike.
