The design
Our Huia feather decal is a soft blend of watercolours with a strong sense of meaning and history. Standing tall and proud, the Huia tail feather symbolises leadership and mana. Worn in the hair by both men and women to represent wisdom and great dignity, it acted as a royal diadem. Huia tail feathers were given as gifts and traded amongst Tangata Whenua.
The feather of this extinct Aotearoa/New Zealand bird is a bold reminder to respect and protect the taonga that is our native biodiversity. Our Huia feather decal is created to display the beauty of this magnificent creature lost to us over the times and tides of history.
