YDS Studio (formerly Your Decal Shop) is our family business. We, Antony, Jess, Lola and Olly, live and work in the beautiful Hawke’s Bay, Aotearoa New Zealand, where creativity, family and home life all blend together.

Antony studied and worked in Architecture and Product Design before the lure of the big OE called. In [year], he set off to travel the world, playing music along the way, eventually landing an internship in Dresden, Germany, with an interior wall decoration company. Within two years (and after learning fluent German) he became Head of Product Development, leading a team of more than 200 people to create innovative wall products for the European market.

But home was never far from mind. A return trip to Aotearoa after five years abroad rekindled a love of New Zealand life and introduced Antony to Jess. She was working in training and education at Unitec and shared his eye for design and all things beautiful. After a walk along the wild west coast trail from Muriwai to Bethells Beach, sparks flew. When Antony’s three-week holiday ended, Jess made a bold decision: she sold her car, resigned, and followed him back to Europe.

Back in Germany, life was full and creative, but by 2012 both knew it was time to come home for good. Jess secured a role with Bayleys Real Estate in Auckland, while Antony found it hard to find a position that matched his skills. Sitting on Mission Bay beach in his suit after another interview, he realised he didn’t need to find a job, he needed to create one.

And so, with little more than a laptop and big ideas, Your Decal Shop was born. Antony began designing unique wall decals that combined art and graphic design, focusing on quality over quantity and sourcing only the best materials from Europe. The very first decals went live on Trade Me, and by morning, the first order had arrived.

When their daughter Lola was born, Jess joined full time, and together they built the business from their Hawke’s Bay home. Word spread quickly. Features in magazines, TV shows, and collaborations with New Zealand artists followed, and soon Your Decal Shop grew into a nationally recognised brand.

Today, YDS Studio has evolved into a creative powerhouse, designing and producing everything in-house, from removable wall decals and murals to large-scale signage and laser-cut bamboo artworks for homes, workplaces and hospitals across Aotearoa. Sustainability is now at the heart of what we do. Our woven fabric murals are made from 100% recycled plastic bottles, and even our offcuts are recycled into fence posts for Kiwi farmers.

We have been proud to collaborate with leading architects, hospitals, and artists across the country, from children’s wards filled with native birds and plants to offices, cafes, and public spaces that celebrate New Zealand’s natural beauty. Our award-winning projects continue to push boundaries while staying true to our values of creativity, quality, and care.

At home, our children Lola and Olly remain our most honest critics. Their curiosity and imagination remind us why we started. From humble beginnings to a thriving design studio, we still make every product to order here in New Zealand with love, precision, and a belief that beautiful design can make every space feel special.
